I attended my first obedience class 30 years ago. My goal at that time was to
own a well behaved dog with good house manners. While attending class, I was
asked, “Are you going to show?” I had no idea what this meant. I was told I
should go to the dog shows and watch the obedience and enter fun matches for
experience. Well, I did all of the above and the rest is history. I have been
showing, teaching and training, which I enjoy and find rewarding.
I am presently training my 6 year old Rottweiler, named Antar, AKA Tar, who is
my pride and joy. He has his CGC, CD and CDX. He is currently working towards
acquiring his UD title. My German Shepherd, Greta is 8 years old and has her CGC,
CD and CDX. I also own a rescue Doberman, named Bella. She is 3 years old. Bella
will be showing in the near future.
The most important lesson I have learned, whether you are training to own a well
behaved pet or are out competing, is to have fun and enjoy your dog.
